Faith & Social Justice: In the spirit of Richard Overton and the 17th C. Levellers

Coming Soon: Reflections on the Water

Tonight, along with 3 others, my 12 year old daughter, Molly, was baptized.  In the coming days, I shall use this happy event as an excuse for some theological reflections on baptism. If she gives permission, I shall even post images and words from her baptism–as public testimony.

  1. Michael,

Congratulations! Did you get to do the deed?

It was one of the most blessed of moments for me to baptize Brett. Of course I had to dunk him twice to make sure everything got wet — first time down there was a tuft of blond hair that remained dry!!

He’s doing that rebellious 17 year old thing right now, but my sense is that what took then will keep with him. So, to Molly, many blessings.

  2. Originally Molly was going to ask her mother, but she changed her mind and asked for our pastor, Cindy Weber, to baptize her. I did, however, get to read Scripture at the ceremony.
