GOP “Budget” Details?

FiveThirtyEight.com has a flow-chart of the promised “details” of the Republican Party’s “alternative budget.”

There’s also this delightful web video from the DNC.

This ridiculous “leadership” by the GOP is why the Democrats can be divided over Obama’s budget, be waffling on the Employee Free Choice Act, can be dragging their feet on ending the Iraq War, can be getting deeper into Afghanistan, and can be farting around when they should be prosecuting the Bush-era war crimes and torture, and STILL be trusted by Americans more than the Republicans!  But if ever there were time for a progressive third party like the Greens to take off, this would be it.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

  1. Will Rogers said it best many years ago,”We have the best politicians that money can buy”. Obama is learning what it means to be the big kahuna ! The first lesson is that they (the hoi polloi) turn on you quickly .

  2. The “hoi polloi,” i.e., the American voters, have NOT turned on Obama, yet, Paul. You don’t believe in polling, but (other than votes), it is the only true measure of public opinion and it shows the public strongly behind the president. In one poll, he has fallen to 65% approval.

To put that in perspective, the most popular Republican president in recent history was Ronald Reagan and, except for the month after he was shot in ’82, his popularity never rose above 65% for his entire presidency. (He had a 68% approval rating for that month.) The public also trusts Obama’s agenda on the economy by 72%.
